Blog Roll

Why am I here?

I am new to this.  That is to say, I 've never "blogged" before.  Neither have I written anything beyond required assignments for school.  I have to admit, this feels self-indulgent.  I'm a nobody, and I doubt that I have anything particularly original or groundbreaking to write here.  I don't know who would be interested in my thoughts or musings, but all the same, I felt compelled to start this blog.

My purpose, then, is to practice putting thoughts down on paper.  Well, digital "paper," I guess.  Like most girls, growing up I felt like I was supposed to keep a diary, so I started one.  About twelve times.  I never got past the first couple entries before I looked back and tore the pages out in embarrassment.  Hopefully by posting my writings for whomever to see, it will prevent my going back and ripping out the pages.

Being an at-home mom of thirteen-month-old twin girls, I don't often have anyone to spill my thoughts to.  My husband works as a firefighter/paramedic; he is gone 48 hours at a time, so I often feel my ideas are wasted.  Plus, I frequently find myself flustered and at a loss for words when topics do arise with other adults.  I think if I have the practice of writing these things out, perhaps I will be better able to hold up my point of view in conversation.  So, here's to practice.

Thank you.

Going Green

I was at Costco yesterday, and there was a product representative selling some new brand of laundry detergent.  It smelled nice, and I was interested in the fact that it doesn't contain too many chemicals, as one of my 13-month-old twin daughters has excema.  Well, it seems this sales woman had been drilled on selling this product because it is the "greenest detergent you are going to find."  This made me chuckle, simply because of the use of the buzzword.  How many times a day do we hear how "green" we can be if we simply buy this or that?

The frustrating thing, to me, is how the left has completely hijacked the environment.  If you are doing your best to be a good steward of the environment, then you must also believe that man-made global warming is our impending doom.  I love my reusable grocery sacks as much as the next girl, but please don't pull me into a discussion about how an Inconvenient Truth was such a life-altering movie.

If I want to see a life-altering movie, I'll watch The Passion of the Christ.
